- Sale of Mucklagh 75MW/150MWh Republic of Ireland battery storage
GSF Ireland 2
Synopsis
Alexa Capital acted as independent financial adviser to Gore Street Energy Storage Fund plc ("GSF") on the disposal of two battery energy storage system (BESS) assets in the Republic of Ireland: Kilmannock (120 MW / 240 MWh) and Mucklagh (75 MW / 150 MWh).
The Company sold its 100% interest in Kilmannock, comprising Phase I (30 MW) and Phase II (90 MW), and its 51% interest in Mucklagh, alongside Low Carbon's 49% interest, to GS EU Fund SCSp ("GS EU").
The transaction was completed at a premium to the values attributed to the assets in the Company's most recently published NAV and represents the first disposals under GSF's updated strategy, announced in March 2026.
Alexa Capital's Role
Alexa Capital provided comprehensive financial advisory services, managing and executing a competitive transaction process through focused stakeholder engagement. Given that both the vendor and the acquirer are managed by GSIM, our appointment as independent sell-side adviser was central to the integrity of the process: we oversaw a structured, competitive bidding process conducted under strict information barriers, providing the Board with independent assurance that best value had been achieved for Shareholders. Leveraging our strong sector and corporate finance expertise, Alexa Capital added strategic value across business plan refinement, marketing and information memorandum preparation, buyer engagement, and guidance on deal structuring and negotiation.
Alexa Capital Value-Add & Market Implications: This transaction supports the continued build-out of flexible capacity in the Irish power system, with the two sites representing a combined 195 MW / 390 MWh of battery energy storage. Grid-scale storage of this kind is critical to integrating rising volumes of variable renewable generation, balancing the system, and delivering Ireland's decarbonisation targets. By facilitating the transfer of these assets into long-term ownership, Alexa Capital contributes to the acceleration of the energy transition and to a lower-carbon power system, aligning with our broader sustainability goals and our commitment to a positive environmental impact.
